Scouting Expeditions on an E-Bike

From this year on, visitors to the World Cultural Heritage at the Völklingen Ironworks Site can take scouting expeditions, on an E-Bike following their visit to the World Cultural Heritage Site at the Völklingen Ironworks. The World Cultural Heritage Site at the Völklingen Ironworks is right on the River Saar, in one of the most richly-forested areas of Saarland.  

E-Bikes make it possible to enjoy excursions in the hunting forests of the Saarbrücken princes, to the mining museum “La Mine -Carreau Wendel” in nearby Petite-Roselle in France in the greatest of comfort. Well-constructed bicycle paths follow the River Saar to the Saarbrücken Museum, the castle and the ensemble of the baroque Ludwigskirche set in its Ludwigsplatz and downstream to witness the French flair of Saarlouis a city built upon the command of Sun King Louis XIV.

For those of a more athletic inclination bicycles are available with conventional gearing.

The bicycle hire shop at the large square in the World Cultural Heritage Site right next to the caravan site is the arrival and destination point of various lengthy bicycle tours.

At the bicycle hire shop, bicycle route maps, published by the Saarland Tourist Board, can also be purchased. Among the routes included are:

• Saar-Köllertal Route
