The Puberty of Pop Culture

 

 

Baby boomers play guitar and carry Pop into the mainstream. The counter culture of the 1960s is splintered: escapism versus anti-nuclear protest, the Red Army Faction versus “you should be dancing”. Punk spits on the streets, smashing the Pop establishment. The discotheque becomes the temple of worship for new hedonism, whose youth jump and jive to Saturday Night Fever.
